About Imco Services

Trusted global commodity partner since 2001

Our Story & Foundation

Founded in 2001 and headquartered in Mumbai, India, Imco Services was established with a clear objective: to become a reliable and ethical participant in the global commodity trading ecosystem. From its early beginnings, the company focused on sourcing and supplying quality raw materials to industrial buyers while maintaining transparency, consistency, and long-term value creation.

Over the years, Imco Services has evolved into a trusted global importer and exporter of minerals, metals, and agricultural commodities. With associate offices and strategic partnerships across key sourcing and consumption regions, we have built a resilient trading platform that connects producers, processors, and end-users across international markets.

Global Commodity Trading Expertise

Imco Services operates at the intersection of global supply chains, international trade regulations, and dynamic commodity markets. Our core expertise lies in understanding regional market trends, price movements, logistics infrastructure, and regulatory frameworks that govern cross-border trade.

As a global commodity trading company, we specialize in facilitating the movement of essential raw materials that support steel production, infrastructure development, manufacturing, and agricultural supply chains. Our ability to consistently deliver quality commodities has positioned us as a dependable partner for buyers and suppliers alike.

Ferrous Metals, HMS Scrap & DRI Trading

One of Imco Services’ key strengths is its expertise in the trading and import of ferrous metals, particularly Heavy Melting Scrap (HMS 1 & 2) and Direct Reduced Iron (DRI). These materials play a vital role in supporting India’s rapidly expanding steel industry, especially in the induction furnace and secondary steel segments.

We actively facilitate the import of HMS Scrap and DRI into India from established and reliable sourcing regions such as the United States, Canada, and the Gulf region. These regions are known for consistent quality, strong compliance standards, and efficient export logistics. Our familiarity with these markets enables us to structure competitive transactions while ensuring timely delivery through major Indian ports.

By combining strong supplier relationships, efficient logistics coordination, and in-depth knowledge of Indian import regulations, Imco Services helps steel producers and traders secure dependable material flows even during periods of market volatility.

Minerals & Agricultural Commodities

In addition to ferrous metals, Imco Services trades a diverse range of mineral resources, including iron ore and other strategic minerals sourced from trusted mining origins. Our involvement in mineral trading is supported by on-ground presence and partnerships in mineral-rich regions, allowing us to identify opportunities that align with client requirements.

We also engage in the trade of select agricultural commodities, sourcing products based on global demand patterns, quality standards, and seasonal availability. Our agricultural trading activities are structured to ensure supply reliability, transparent pricing, and adherence to international trade norms.

Leadership & Management

Imco Services is led by Mr. Hiren Sanghavi and Mr. Sunny Tapia, who together bring over two decades of hands-on experience in global commodity trading. Their leadership is grounded in practical market knowledge, disciplined risk management, and a strong commitment to ethical business conduct.

Under their guidance, the company has expanded its global footprint, strengthened its supplier network, and built long-standing relationships with clients across multiple industries. Their approach emphasizes execution excellence, transparent communication, and sustainable business growth.

Mr. K. Jacob Cherian

Imco Services proudly acknowledges its founder, Mr. K. Jacob Cherian, whose vision and values laid the foundation for the company’s journey. Founded in New York City in 1992, his earlier initiatives in the iron and steel industry and marine sector established a legacy of integrity, quality, and customer commitment.

His emphasis on ethical conduct and professional excellence remains a guiding force behind Imco Services’ operations today.

Commitment to Ethics, Compliance & Long-Term Value

Integrity and transparency are central to every transaction at Imco Services. We believe that long-term success in global trade is built on trust, consistency, and responsible business practices. By focusing on sustainable partnerships rather than short-term gains, Imco Services continues to deliver value to clients, suppliers, and stakeholders across the global commodity ecosystem.
